INTRODUCTION
This index has been created from entries in the parish registers. Nearly all the parishes within the modern day county boundary of Northamptonshire
have been included. A complete list of parishes can be found at the bottom of this page. There are over 25,790 entries on the index. The index has been
arranged alphabetically and there are four sets of files, one under groom and the other under bride, one arranged chronologically and one arranged
chronologically by parish.
The index has been arranged in the following order :-
1. Forename of Groom.
2. Surname of Groom.
3. Groom’s place of residence when marriage took place. [otp is an abbreviation for ‘of this parish’]
4. Forename of Bride.
5. Surname of Bride.
6. Bride’s place of residence when marriage took place.
7. Year marriage took place.
8. Date marriage took place.
9. Place marriage took place (or place marriage recorded in).
10. If marriage was by license than this has been recorded.

OTHER INFORMATION
The index is split into alphabetical files using Adobe Acrobat 6.0. The file extensions are PDF format. The software that is required to open these is available as a free download from http://www.adobe.com
The files on this disk are an index to the parish registers and not full transcriptions of the parish register entries themselves.
If an entry contains additional information then this has been recorded. This can include marriages that have taken place in another parish.
Any additional information to the parish register entry has also been recorded.
Groom and bride files are normally sorted alphabetically by surname then forename, some forename entries may be listed at the end of the surname they belong to so please check the whole surname listing, [e.g. If searching for Hannah Wright also check after the last forename variant ‘Widow’ Wright].
