
PERSONAL PARCELS FOR PRISONERS - Nov 10, 1917
A new scheme comes into force of December 1st which enables the next-of-kin to send a parcel, not
exceeding 11 lbs. in weight, once a quarter to his or her prisoner relative. The following articles may
be included and relatives are warned that the inclusion of articles not mentioned may entail the
confiscation of the parcel :-
Pipe
Sponge
Pencils
Tooth Powder
Pomade
Cap Badge
Badges of Rank
Shaving razor
Bootlaces (mohair)
Pipe lights
Handkerchief (one a quarter)
Health salts
Insecticide powder
Braces and belts (provided they are made of webbing and include no rubber or leather)
Housewife
Shaving soap (one stick a quarter)
Combs
Hair brushes
Cloth brushes
Buttons
Chess
Draughts
Dominoes
Dubbin
Hobnails
Sweets
Medal ribbons
Brass polish
Mittens and mufflers (one pair each every quarter)
This parcel must be packed, and despatched through the Post Office, by the friend or relative
who receives the coupon and may not be packed by a Care Committee.
