ELIZABETH PINCKARD – The last woman to be publicly hanged in Northampton by Derek Pinckard
SOLICITORS LETTER
This is a transcription of a letter from a firm of solicitors to John Mutton Pinckard regarding a dispute over a farm with his father Richard Pinckard.
Daventry Aug 12th 1850
Sir
Your father called upon us this afternoon to advise with us respecting his right as a Partner in the farm which you jointly hold.
There can be no doubt about his rights as a Partner and that you have recognised him as such and we much regret that there should be any differences
between you. Your position as father and son should we think cause you to hesitate before either of you contemplate resorting to law. We have talked with your
father thereon and feel pleased to say he is inclined to make any arrangements which he can considered with his own rights for the occupation of the farm by you
alone. We trust you will talk this matter over with him quickly and without warmth of feeling and that we shall shortly learn what terms you have made so that we
may prepare a proper agreement between you.
We are sir
Yours Obediently
Gery? and Son
