WORLD WAR ONE NORTHAMPTON INDEPENDENT SOLDIER NEWSPAPER ARTICLES

LC-CORPL. WHITLOCK of the 1st Northants, Oct, 1914.

Lance-Corpl. Whitlock, of the 1st Northants, considers himself a lucky man, for in a letter

from a Paris Hospital he states with great satisfaction that the Germans only managed to shoot

away his little finger.  He says,

“I consider myself lucky to some of them, who got shot in the leg, so that they couldn’t get away.

I was just getting used to it when a bit of shell hit my hand.  At Paris we are having the best of everything.

Some English people who visit us give us as many fags as we like to ask for.  I am never without fifty.”
